A serious car accident in Bristol County claimed the life of a 26-year-old Taunton mother. The head-on collision happened in Raynham last Saturday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m.
Car accidents frequently occur on the weekend and are often attributable to occurrences such as driver intoxication, driver distraction and speeding. It is unclear what caused Saturday’s accident, which is still under investigation. Police officers are working to reconstruct the scene and The Taunton Gazette reports that it may take several weeks to complete accident reconstruction. For a case like this, it is highly recommended to speak with a car accident lawyer to protect yourself and/or get what you deserve.
The Taunton mother died of injuries that she sustained in the crash while being rushed to Morton Hospital Center. The mother’s 2-year-old daughter was also in the car at the time of the accident but appears to have been largely uninjured according to the Taunton Gazette.
“When she was on scene, from what I heard from the men, she didn’t appear to be seriously injured,” a Raynham Fire Department lieutenant said of the toddler. “It sounded like more of an evaluation as the reason they sent her to Boston. Typically when there is a fatality, the hospital wants to play it safe.”
The mother’s white sedan crashed into a black Chevy pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old man from Raynham. The man and a 27-year-old passenger also sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to Morton Hospital for treatment.
Many details about the accident have not been released according to the Taunton Gazette. It is unclear whether any citations will be issued or if speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
